In this installment of the Smart Design Series, a library of videos developed to help you become familiar with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we take a closer look at free surface simulation with the help of Simcenter FLOEFD.
Simcenter FLOEFD is an award-winning CAD-embedded fluid flow and heat transfer simulation solution which allows you to frontload CFD simulation during the design stage where you can fully explore the design envelope. Free surface capability can be used to simulate filling, emptying and sloshing of liquids and non-Newtonian fluids. In this video we focus on an automotive surge tank. By simulating the behavior of liquid, you can gain valuable insight into the performance of your model.
A wide range of visualization tools including cut plots and animations are at your disposal to fully probe the model. For example, with the help of the Transient Explorer you can see the filling process and by using the gravitation or acceleration changes over time, you can imitate the effect of accelerated or decelerated movement.
While this 4-minute video features Simcenter FLOEFD for NX, you can expect the same level of integration with CATIA V5, Creo and Solid Edge from the world’s most popular CFD program for the design engineer.
